I have a Windows Desktop( Intel Q8300, 4GB RAM, 932 GB HDD).

Around 300 GB of the disk has data and I don't wanna mess with that so I would like to partition the disk so that I can have a second OS running.

Whatever I do, I shouldn't have to bother with the 300 GB of data. The system will be used as a media or storage server.

when installing windows all you need to do is custom install > select unallocated space.

so make some unallocated space (in a single chunk) prior to running the installer.
