HDD with Windows

I need to get something off another computer's hard drive but no input devices work, I've tried. So I'm wondering if putting an HDD with a version of windows on it into a copmuter that already has windows will affect it.

I've plugged three keyboards (1 PS/2, 2 USB) and two Mice (Both USB) and none work. I even tried to use a usb hub I had plugged the last time I used. I've used all usb ports, including the two USB 3s and checked the connection, then tried to connect a card reader's USB 3s and it didn't work.

If you have some computer knowledge you can try to boot off a USB  using HIRENS or bob boot CD to copy the data over to another device. Need more info also on the specific issue, like if it does not boot etc... Could also be a driver or hardware related issue. If the boot USB works, it is software (driver etc..) not hardware.

This requires 1 or  2 USB devices and another computer to create the usb

I know enough to get myself out of trouble but don't know that much nor do I posses two unused jump drives.

No it should not affect it but you must select the correct boot drive in bios

Ah, I mis-understood. Pull the old hard drive out of the bad system, plug in as slave to the new system, boot to windows and pull data off old drive
