4790K overclocking instability

So Hi I am currently overclocking a 4790K and am struggling to get a 100% stable oc on it, I have up to 4.6GHz stable and am about 90% stable at 4.8GHz and probably 70-85% stable at 4.9, any ideas on ways to increase stability? Currently have a ton of Thermal Headroom but yeah struggling to get stable.

Specs
Intel i7 4790K, Delidded and using Liquid Metal on both sides of IHS
Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black

First of all there is no percentage on stability, its binary, meaning its either stable or its not. Start by identifying when your overclock fails, (like AVX loads etc) and monitor your vdroop (meaning how much your cpu vcore drops when you put load on the cpu).

Currently I am failing on Heavy AVX2 loads (OCCT being used for stability testing)

Most loads i.e. Handbrake, Cinebench, Video Editing Gaming its perfectly fine but any full on stress test it crashes with a BSOD with either Clock_Watchdog_Timeout or Machine_Check_Exception

I’ve got tons of thermal headroom too, and couldn’t get my 4770k really stable at above 4.0.  My memory is that 4.6 is actually pretty good.  There’s no guarantee of what is available on a given chip.  I could get mine stable in stress tests at 4.1, but in regular gaming it would still crash a week or two later.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

If your motherboard supports AVX offset (meaning it will decrease cpu core speed when AVX load is detected) use that. I usually counter that with just pushing more voltage.
