Laptop Upgrade

I'm currently looking to upgrade my laptop. Aside from putting an eGPU in, I can only upgrade the very slow 1 TB HDD to an 1TB SSD or upgrade my RAM from 4GB (DDR4) RAM to 8GB or 12GB. The 4GB stick is soldered to the motherboard and I have 1 expansion slot. What should I go with: 4GBx2 or 4GBx1 and 8GBx1.

 

What option would provide the highest performance increase in general usage, gaming and video editing

Hmm... I'm afraid there is nothing much you can do to increase your laptop's performance.

 

Adding RAM will help as it can hold more data and certainly improve in some games, so I guess you can upgrade to the highest possible capacity.

 

Changing from HDD to SSD should reduce your Windows loading time and file transfer speed. Go for it, if you can afford it.

 

Other than that, I would suggest you to safe some money and get a more capable laptop.
