Hey,

Hoping to pick peoples brains. Attempting my first sleeper in a old dell slim desktop. Trying to keep the front the same I’ll end up with the graphics card where the old power supply would be. So thinking if putting the new PSU where the CD and storage used to be. It fits nicely even if I’ll need to sort mounts. However the io of the PSU would be in the middle and front. Which makes fitting the wires a pain.

Does a PSU exist with the in and out at a right angle to each other? If not what would be the best solution to getting the wires to work at a right angle to save space? I had a google but can’t find what I would like.

I’ll get some pictures later to help.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forums!

You can use right angled power connectors or extensions for SFF builds if that helps you to orient the cables in the right direction.

I think I get what you're asking, but I've never seen a PSU that had the cables come out at the top or bottom instead of opposite from the power cable. You might be able to mod it... but personally I'd rather not toy with a PSU ?

Do you think mounting the PSU vertically might be an option? Here's an adapter that could help: IEC C14 TO C13 POWER ADAPTER 10A PDU PLUG/SOCKET 90 DEGREE Wall-mounted LCD TV

If the PSU is (semi-)modular, you might also be able to make use of something like this: ATX 24Pin female to 24pin male right angle adapter for desktop PC power supply

Yea I don’t fancy cutting open a power supply. Shame but I think the right angle adaptor/end would work. It’ll be tight.

Here’s the case and how I think it will fit in. Purple line being the power. Excuse the old hardware this is just stuff I have to test the space rather than anything I intend to use.

Thanks for the help
