3900x+2070super WC on SFF

Hey guys,

 

it’s finally time to downsize my desktop. 
right now I have a 3900x on AIO and 2070 super air cooled on a phanteks case. 
looking to go down to a streacom Da2 case and WC both components. 
 

MB choice is crosshair viii impact.

 

will a 280mm rad handle both cpu and gpu on the Da2?

 

looking at the EK cpu block/pump combo they launched with quick release connectors, gpu block and their 280mm rad from the same ecosystem.

If you're aggressive with the power management, sure 280mm is enough without too much performance loss

280mm would be enough without any performance loss, especially if it's custom loop because AIOs definitely are.

Nevermind, for both CPU and GPU i dunno, probably not unless you downvolt ... Better go air for GPU and water for CPU.

No need for aggressive power management, just get a nice rad (a hardwarelabs GTS 280 should do) and you'll have pretty solid temps.

Meh, I would recomend going full custom.  Those tubes will suuuuper long for the case, EK rads aren't great and the total cost will probably wind up pretty high for what you get

undervolting both, maybe adjust clock speed as necessary. Btw memory and infinity fabric should still be overclocked to the max to maximize IPC.

 

btw by how much still depends on the rad and especially, its thickness and fin density.

Question. If we want to install any temperature sensor passthrough or stop plug in custom loop with ITX board, where to connect that 2 pins plug on the common ITX motherboards (if they have the header for it)?

Does Crosshair VIII Impact have that kind of connector, because I heard that this connector is only exists on high-end boards (if that is true)?

The VIII Impact has what looks like two thermal sensors, but I can't find any info backing that up.  And yes, the connector isn't really a necessity socit is often cut from the PCB.

I just found that Corsair Commander Pro has 4 of 2pins temperature header. Can we use that?

Yup  but it won't fit in most ultra sff rigs.  "Big" (all mainstream) ITX will be fine
