Hey guys,

I've been think and wondering what naming scheme Intel will implement for it's upcoming Broadwell microarchitecture CPUs. Most people would have thought that the successor to the i5 3570K would have been a i5 4570K, but instead it was the i5 4670K. It seems that Intel don't always stick to their naming schemes from their previous generation CPUs. So what do you think the naming scheme will be for Broadwell? Do you think that the successor to the to the i5 4670K will be a i5 5770K (I know the "770" part is usually reserved for the i7 equivalent but just thought I'd put it out there)?

@LinusTech, it would be good to know your thoughts on this as well.

I doubt they would put 5770k as one of their i5 CPU names.

Well you never know with Intel, they could do whatever the heck they like. :P

But... but what would the i7 be called if it the i5 was 5770k? What if they want all the way to 7970k? There would be no room for the i7 lineup :(

Hmm...true. I guess I feel it was a tad confusing thinking that the 3570K successor would be the 4570K and then finding out it was the 4670K. But who knows, Intel might trick us again and the 4670K successor could be the 5570K. We'll just have to wait and see.
