Hello,
Currently I had build a rig for almost an year now and didn't experience any issues, but suddenly I started experiencing shutdown on highly graphics games like (GTA V, BFV etc.). I had suspected the psu since it was cougar STE 500w which is a low quality PSU, changed it with a cooler master 600W PSU which is the recommended for the GTX 980ti. It still had issues of shutdown, even tried getting a spare GPU GTX 1070 to check weather there's an issue with anything else, but seemed quite working well. So does that mean by GPU has become faulty and won't operate well under stress or it doesn't take enough power to run properly? At first it was shutting down once any gpu usage, but now it can live up to 30 mins till it shutdown/restarts. The only case that made it live but causes horrible lag, is going into power saving mode which makes my processor limited to 2200 mhz per core, which makes the gpu operate on such games without an issue but on very very low graphics.

Specs:
MSI B450m GAMING PLUS
AMD Ryzen 2600x
Evga GTX 980ti SC ACX 2.0
8gb ram stick ADATA XPG
Samsung 500gb SSD m2
Cougar mx330 PC case
Cooler master version 3 PSU 600w
GPU Drivers up-to-date ( reinstalled cleanly multiple times to insure no issues, reinstalled windows too)

Here are the voltages after doing some stress test through furry benchmark.

Why is your voltage for the GPU set to 0 on EVGA prevision? Is that not an issue? From what I know about this program is to adjust your card settings. If it's not getting any voltage then it's not going to work as intended?

I think that's just a bug, I mean he would not be able to take the screenshot if the voltage was 0

Could be a bug or it could be a sign it's not communicating with the card correctly. Maybe he has insurance and can return it if it's being faulty but he's had it for some time and might not have protection on it anymore.

pretty hard to believe that a 980ti is currently warranted

How about you go into power saving mode and after that step by step revert all factors back to performance mode.

It think its your GPU is dying maybe undervolting/underclocking will help?

The thing is, everything is already on the default mode. also not sure if underclocking will be healthy on the gpu, since its already having issues with stock mode. My Ryzen 2600x is also constantly on 4200 mhz when going into balanced power mode. So since power saving mode limits cpu core power, it bottlenecks my gpu which results in low performance. Already tried multiple factors, even if i underclocked my GPU, it shuts down once few mins into any high graphics game.

It's always 0 with any other software tho. Even MSI Afterburner. Sadly there's no warranty for it anymore. Although it was working normally for over an year, what makes it all of a sudden produce those issues.

So you didn't make any significant changes to the computer when these issues started happening? Good PSU, have tested with other cards, then my best guess would be your card is dying if you wouldn't consider it already dead. You can do some more tinkering with settings, drivers, and maybe even your mobo bios to see if something went wrong somewhere.

Well I considered already that it has become faulty, but not dead since no signs of artifacts or dead pixels. So the only significant changes I did was discovering the power saving mode that limited my cpu's core power and it made the gpu live longer in games actually, but doesn't work with all of them. Already tried to reset my mobo to the default settings and didn't have an effect much actually. So I think the only thing left is to under clock it which is more risky though, but its my only choice left to try, else im devoted to wait for good deals and grab one of the mid end gpus in the market.

Edit: Yea seems after underclocking my clock, the shutdown process is faster now, its certainly unstable.

That sucks man. Well, if you're tight on cash the used market is still booming especially with stuff like 1080ti. I personally bought an MSI one used off the market for 600 and it works nicely for 1080p gaming and VR. Looking now has them around 500 give or take so I recommend that route. Best of luck
