USB Type-E extension cable?

I got a cable length problem, so i kinda hope this is the right forum, if not please relocate me. I came here cause its something odd and I could't figure out where to ask. I'm a long term LTT sub and it all of a sudden dawned on me that there is a community behind LTT that knows weird stuff, so i thought you might be able to help me. 

My case (Phanteks P600s) has a lovely USB-C front connector that internally has a USB C board header connector. I've been told that is called a USB Type-E or Key A but I'm happy to be corrected on that. My board (MSI B450 Carbon) doesn't have one of those connectors on the board. So I got an PCIe add in card with that header (Silverstone ECUO2) but... the connector cable is too short by about 10-15mm. I could connect it if i REALLY stretch the cable.... but no. 

I'm looking around the web for weeks now looking for an extender cable, but all i can find are cables from the header with a Type-C socket at the end, but not a pure extender. Can someone help me out here and push me in the right direction? I'm not sure if I just look for the wrong keywords or if the things simply doesnt exist.

Cut the cable, look for a similar (interior diameter cables) and start solding !

That's actually not a bad idea. I will keep it as a backup plan if i can't find a cable anywhere. Thanks for the tip, didn't think of it

You'd need to figure out how you want to secure it but another option is to extend the card using a PCIe extension cable since the card doesn't have any rear IO (the slot cover can even be unscrewed so that it's just the bare board)
