Big Rig - X99

Welp, parts have all arrived so now it's time to rebuild the big rig. It's been in a few different stages with this mobo and GPU (started with a 5820K, has a 5960X now:

Last rebuild, upgraded to 5960X, dropped the 120mm rad:

I... haven't actually taken many pics yet lol, my place is a mess and the rads only got here last night. I've done a test fit so far, will clean everything up and get it put together (along with getting the best pics I can with just my phone) tonight and tomorrow morning. Have a lot of parts to dig out to finish it all up cleanly lol. Would like to avoid rebuilding it yet again if possible.

All I've got so far is this: 

 

Clearance with 2 360mm rads in the Evolv ATX is yes. They fit in this exact config and nothing else (30mm thickness, top rad fittings towards the rear, front rad fittings on the bottom), unless you wanna cut into the case. This was my 18th birthday gift from my aunt, so I really don't want to cut into it at all.

Oh I haven't had a chance to boot it up since 2020 has been out... given how it was treating your 5700XT I can't say hopes are high . This RVII did live through the similar issues with Adrenaline 2019 when it first dropped though, so we'll see how it goes once I've got coolant running through the thing. Need to remember to do some benches before I upgrade though, to see if there really is magical wine stuff because AMD, or if that's not really as big a thing as people make it out to be.

Aight so didn’t actually get anything done Saturday, but I did get it about 90% complete yesterday. Gotta fill/leak test then flush the loop still, then actually put the PSU in and finish up the cable management:

CPU still running its standard 4.5Ghz/1.2v OC, sits around 60C in CB20, around 45C in Destiny 2. GPU seems to stay in the 40s on the core, 70s on the hotspot. Doesn't want to clock up much though, I assume some fuckery with Adrenaline 2020. Will be interesting to see if temps change much as the bubbles work their way out of the system.

CPU seems to hit a hard limit at 3.7GHz on the uncore, and 4.8Ghz all-core (4.9 with HT off). So I'm tuning for 4.7Ghz/3.7Ghz core/uncore, since that's a barely noticeable drop in perf from 4.8Ghz all core, but I can run lower voltages. Have it like... 98% stable rn, with around 1.28v vCore, 1.1v Ring voltage, 1.925-1.95v Input Voltage. It was almost stable at 1.27v vCore, but hit an instability at some time during the night while running ASUS Realbench. Upped the vCore, set it to run an 8 hour stress test, hoping to come home and see that it passed lol. 

Temps are solid on the CPU btw, 71-72C totaled, hottest single core gets up to about 74C. All well below the TjMax of 83-89C (E-LEET, which I use to adjust voltages for tests without needing a reboot, says the TjMax is set to 89C rn). And also below the safe daily (AFAIK) of 85C.

On stable drivers, RVII is finally behaving. Still pretty sure I have a shit bin though, this is the highest I can do:

It is the top attainable spot for the 5960X/Radeon VII combo though:

 

Top 3 spots are a guy running two Radeon VIIs in crossfire, I can't compete with dual cards. (time to buy a second RVII)

 

Not able to compete in any CPU class though, even the lowest (single GPU) score there is a 9900K/RVII combo, my CPU can't beat a 9900K. Lowest on GPU score alone still had their RVII clocked to 2158Mhz on the core as well, mine cannot go that high. 

Best I've managed so far is up to 2080Mhz or so core, 1250Mhz VRAM. Running 1.242v (even increasing .003v to 1.245v drops clocks by 20Mhz), 199% power target, 500W cap. Card pulls around 320-360W under those settings depending on load. That's redlining it and not fully stable but it does pass TimeSpy so that's what matters lol. Core/HBM hitting up to the high-ish 40s IIRC, hotspot up to the high 90s (throttle temp is 115C or so). 

The best news is that I beat @Den-Fi's Liquid Devil RX 5700XT.
