My graphics card is a gtx 1070 founders edition and has consistently been hitting 80-82 degrees Celsius while playing fortnite on a 2k monitor on medium high settings. I have 3 intake fans on my case and 1 output fan. I'm really, really worried about it overheating because I'll occasionally get warnings from windows. When I put my hand on the part of the back of my computer where the graphics card outputs air, the air it blows out is kinda hot. I honestly have to idea what to do. Buy a new fan? Somehow water cool my graphics card? Despite me having no money to spend on water cooling. Any advice or help would be really good and very much appreciated.

Set a more aggressive fan curve.

What does that mean (I'm recently getting back into pc gaming and have forgotten almost everything)

Modern fans don't run full speed all the time. They are software driven and ramp up depending on the temperature. Many times, the fan curve (temp vs speed) is optimized for silence as opposed to performance. Download msi afterburner and you can readjust the fans to spin faster at a given temperature. See if that helps your problem.

That's not overheating, it's working as intended. Nvidia cards will boost as far as they can go until they hit a thermal limit (82c for your chip), while staying within their power envelope.

FE cards have blower coolers on them as well, which aren't the greatest at cooling.

Turn up the fan.

Download the older version of precisionx oc.

Gpu boost starts lowering around 39-42c so should have lost quite a few steps running at 80. But also completely normal.

If you prefer less sound, leave it be.

But you may want to check where it’s running at fan wise Incase there’s an issue. Being an older card now.

That's not true, it doesn't throttle until it can't maintain 82c.

Uhhh most idle higher than that.

Out of the 30 I’ve had, not one has idled that high. Except when running surround and the memory was being used excessively from a bug.

Also doesn’t matter what the idle temp is if we are talking about gpu boost.

that has zero context to what we are talking about.

This was the first link in the search. There are others. But that's off topic to the OP, So I am done.
