So when I was building my first pc back in February, I decided to skimp on the ram to afford better other parts, and got a kit of 2x4gb kit of Patriot DDR4 clocked at 2666mhz. CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 2600. This choice may not have been the best decision, as with an upgrade to a 27 1440p monitor and a new graphics card just bought (gtx 1060 6GB to Strix rtx 2060 super), the ram is really what’s bottlenecking my system. I was looking at the G-Skill Trident-z RGB 2x8gb 3200mhz, but I have heard 32gb may be worth for a 2060 super. Also is 3200mhz a could frequency for a Ryzen 5 2600? And when I do get my new ram, if it is 2 sticks can I move the old ram to the other slots, even though they are a different frequency?

You don't need 32gb for gaming. It won't help with anything. The best pick would be a 2x8gb kit that's 3600 C16.

If you put the old one in as well, it will just make your new one run at the lower frequency. Just sell it or something. You don't need more than 16gb.

Any recommendations for kits with this in mind? And yes, I am a sucker for rgb :P

They do seem way more expensive in the 3600mhz variant

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction I’ll do some research from here. Last question is Gskill the way to go? Or someone else?
