They are compatible, whether they are the right purchase or not nowadays is highly debatable.

3800X has much higher 0.1% and 1% lows than the 9700k, other than being much cheaper. 3700X is slightly cheaper too for almost the same performance but it seems you have the budget for it. The 9700K might have higher max fps, but it's not worth it imho.

Kept the MicroATX size of the motherboard. Maybe go ATX if the case is big enough.

Rest of the build is pretty much the same. Put a RGB version of the H100i.

Overall you save quite a few bucks, other than having a better overall component between gaming and other uses in my opinion.

Yes, just the logo.

Maximum fps isn't exactly optimal when you have much lowers 1% and 0.1%, which means more stuttering. You do you.

The largest difference with Ryzen is that every cpu though their lineup gets multithreading/hyperthreading which you no longer get with Intel's current lineup. Not to mention they're like $100~ cheaper, perform similarly and come with a free usable cooler.

With hyperthreading on my 1st gen i7-980x 6c/12t overclocked to 4.5ghz, I'm able to match the Cinebench R15 performance of the stock 9th gen i5 9600k which is a brand new 6 core but only 6 threads. Intel has really kneecapped this generation and in a few years is going to be bottlenecking due to lack of threads the same way non-hyperthreaded quad cores have been for a while. Yeah the Intel might get 2-3% better frames in older games today but the comparable Ryzen cpu is going to be getting far better frames in games in the coming years.

None of this makes the hardware particularly bad though, just poor value and will be obsolete much sooner. As far as becoming obsolete sooner, the rumors for 10th gen include things like hyperthreading across the whole lineup and another increase in core counts which would really burn anyone who bought the 9th gen short of the 9900k.

and I wasted several nights losing sleep watching benchmarks seeing the 9700k and the 9900k always in first first 9900k (other than those super cpus'd with 16 core 32 thread shit)

and the 9700k came 3rd or 5th max but always better than amd

Then you can get much better RAM for the price.
