Using maximum TDP on Mobo

Go to solution Solved by mr moose,

You won't be able to overclock on that motherboard.  Yes it will run the CPU but the CPU will just boost up normally (within turbo boost 2 limits).  You need a Z series mobo to make the most of an unlocked CPU.

Hello mates! Im starting building my setup today ( all the parts arrived ^^)

I was reading motherboard manual now and i came across: "motherboard supports cpu up to 95w". I was building this setup with i5 9400f but on black Friday i couldn't resist buying i5 9600k for 200$. So i sold i5 9400f and now i have i5 9600k which has 95W.

My question: is it ok to use maximum supported TDP cpu on a motherboard? Or should i buy a new one? :( (it will take me another 2 weeks..)

Will it harm motherboard?

I'm not planning to overclock to be honest. I was okay with my previous cpu (9400f), i just bought 9600k because it was on sale. Im more than satisfied for its factory clock :) so no issues whatsoever? It will use its factory setting with no problems and it won't harm the mobo? (Since im using its maximum capability)

It should be fine then.
