Hi Folks,

My Alienware AH2518H 240hz G-Sync arrived today and I have it hooked up now, one thing I just want to double check with some of you guys is how this installed.

When I connected my monitor it of course installs on windows as "Generic PnP", I then download the latest drivers from Dell  using link dell.com/aw2518h and picking the January 2019 one at the top under Drivers. The problem here was it still shows as "Generic PnP" and it's not showing as Alienware or the model number in device manager, I had to then update my GFX drivers to the latest on Nvidia Control Panel which picked up the monitor and enabled G-Sync etc, but still shows as generic pnp on Windows dev manager.

So Nvidia control panel detects it and shows the full model enabling the features, but why is windows not picking this up?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

does it matter to you if windows picks it up , is the monitor running it's correct resolution and refresh rate?

I Was just curious in case it would cause any unforeseen issues moving forward.

Nvidia Control Panel does recognise the monitor and I have set G-Sync active and refresh rate to 240hz, so assuming everything is all good but the Windows thing was throwing me a bit.
