Hey people, I'm having a problem with my R9 280x, yesterday it was working perfectly fine, but today I booted the computer and it crashed with a white screen, which I thought was just Windows 10 being Windows 10, so I rebooted, things were looking fine, then 10mins later...

So I try again and finally the motherboard starts giving me a B2 code (MSI), so I look it up, bam, graphics issue.

The computer works fine with integrated graphics, but as soon as I pop the 280x back it, B2 code again.

We're having a very humid week with lots of rain and there was humid dust on the card, so I'm hoping it eventually works again, but I've heated it up with a hair drier for a while and still nothing.

It doesn't seem to have a dual bios switch so I can't test that, and using the 2nd bios on my MB resulted in the same thing.

My specs:

MSI Z87 MPower

Asus R9 280x DirectCUII

4x4Gb 1600mhz DDR3 HyperX RAM

Intel 4690k

PSU EVGA G1 650W

And disks.

Any sugestions/ideas of what to do? Hoping it's not dead...

Yeah, I cleared CMOS and tried the 2nd BIOS on my motherboard. I'm not sure if there's a way to reset the graphics card firmware? It doesn't seem to have a firmware switch...

Did you tried using different pcie slot? If not start with that. It may be problem with that.

You could try running a Linux bootable if you're worried about the firmware on the card, some Linux distros are bad with graphics drivers so I would recommend Ubuntu.

Considering the integrated graphics works I don't think the motherboard or BIOS is the problem but it's still good to rule things out.

Like I said in the title, it doesn't boot, the motherboard throws a B2 code
