Hello, couple of weeks ago my PC shut down after 2.5-3h playing Forza Horizon 4 (installed on SSD). Few days later, it froze after similar time playing AC Origins (installed on HDD) and was hot to touch. After that I installed HWMonitorPro and CPU temps were around 85C while gaming so I disabled Precision Boost and clocked CPU at 3.8Ghz to reduce heat. Idle and gaming temps fell by around 10C and it seemed to be fixed but today afrer 2.5-3h playing AC Origins, PC shut down and it wasnt so hot to touch so I think there must be another culprit. Windows gave Kernel-Power 41 Error. I didn't monitor my temps today so I can't give you estimation.

PC bought in September 2019.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x @3.8Ghz (stock cooler)

MOBO: Asus TUF B450M-Plus Gaming (Bios ver. 2006)

GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Super Ventus (stock settings, 441.66)

RAM: 2x8GB Corsair 3200Mhz LPX Black (loaded 3200Mhz profile from sticks)

PSU: Corsair CX550 (550W 80+ Brozne)

SSD: Crucial Mx550 1Tb

HDD: WD Black 1Tb

Windows 10 Pro 1909 (18363.535) 64bit

It sounds like it's a potential memory issue, I just resolved one with my PC after a long time. You can download and run this software (https://www.memtest86.com) to see if your memory kit is okay. If it is then you can try to identify other sources of failure.

I did one and half test run with no errors. I think something else is the culprit.

Odd. Maybe try updating your bios? I'm not sure what the issue could be other than maybe a corrupt windows installation or a freak driver issue.

Already have latest bios installed, also updated chipset drivers. I'm starting to think it's game's fault or maybe heat is really the issue, I don't really know. Would you reccommend some CPU/GPU stress tests and how much to use them to check them because I only have one fan that pushes hot air out so maybe I should add one or two to the front...

Sorry for the late response. Thermals could be an issue, but even then your CPU and GPU should just downclock to a lower performance and power level without crashing. CPU-Z and the Heaven Benchmark are my stress tests of choice, but you could also try rolling back your GPU drivers with a clean install after using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) or something

I've ran Prime95 around 3hrs with not crash but with side pannel removed and I thought the heat was the issue all along and decided to order two fans but today while playing a AC Odyssey, PC shut down after 2hrs+ and last 3 days everything was okey. I really don't know whats the issue, same error code as last time.

EDIT: One thing I've noticed is that my ssd temp reaches 80C while on support page it says it should be around 70C under full load. Could that be the issue? Maybe I should put a fan to cool it down...

I don't think that would be the issue as silicon, even 3D NAND found on SSD's, runs comfortably under 100 degrees. I really have no idea other than maybe a faulty Power Supply or Motherboard, or a corrupted Windows install. I've had several windows installs corrupt which made it an absolute nightmare to also figure out that I had a bad RAM kit because I could never properly diagnose the issue. I hope you figure it out sooner than I did because that type of thing is very frustrating. Best of luck.
