. Just turn it on at the lowest possible "on" setting, and spray in controlled bursts for equal amounts of time. i.e. 2 seconds each burst.

I actually hadn't thought of that. I might try that on some scrap fans. 

 

Thing is, on something not moving you'd need around 3 coats for solid coverage without getting any runs in the coat, and something as uneven as a fan would need very light coats. In addition more coats makes it easier to peel off if you're going to.
