Hello everyone,

I don't understand enough about this even after doing some light research, as there are some variables... so I need some help.

Basically I have a 9700k and 2080 Super Gaming x Trio. I don't need anything overkill, I just need something that offers me those 2 minutes to safely save and shutdown everything in case of power outage. I'm currently using a small surge protector incorporated in my extension cord so... I don't know if cleaning the current and protecting from surges is something that all UPS's do or not...

It's also in my room, so silence is a must. My understanding is that they'll almost always be noise when operating out of battery, which is ok, but, when in passive mode or when pc is turned off, it needs to be perfectly silent, no fan or coil noise.

So summary, I need about 2 minutes of power time and no noise operation when in passive mode or pc turned off. In case it's something optional, I'd like something that "cleans" the current and protects from surges, at least an option to compare prices.

I live in Europe and regarding budget... I don't really have one, but, I don't really like to overpay either and since I just want a reliable but basic unit not looking to spend much.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Are you familiar with how much your PC (with the peripherals) draws from the power outlet? or at least how strong of a PSU you have installed?

According to the two mentioned parts I estimate your PC can draw somewhere from 400 to 500W under load.

This means you'd need a UPS capable of providing 550W or more (since the UPS would also procide for the monitor and maybe other peripherals).

A 1000VA unit should suffice (most of 1000VA are able to provide 500W to 700W). Maybe a 800VA would do, but that would be on the edge.

Stronger usually means that it keeps the power longer. And yes, most UPS-es run AVR (automatic Voltage Regulation) even better than surge protection strips.

There might be issues if your PSU doesn't run well from a simulated sine wave that most UPS-es provide. Real sine wave units are expensive.
