So I'm planning a home-server build for some time in 2020 and I've seen convincing arguments from both Synology and Unraid. The one recent video that Linus & co. did showcased a proprietary Synology feature that allowed two servers of the same capacity to serve as a remote backup for each other. Having looked at the astronomical costs of cloud data storage, I was amazed by this feature. However, I'm not really looking to sink a bunch of money into a software package that's tied to a box with a mere Celeron, an inability to have both 10Gbit & SSD Cache, and unreliable power supplies as is the case with Synology, and Unraid seems to offer much of the same experience, but with hardware modularity. So, as there are many comparable pieces of software via Unraid, is there a comparable program for this remote backup parity feature? Or do I have to go with Synology if I want something like this?
