Final look over my <$ 1500 non-gaming build

Just finalizing my part list for a non-gaming rig. I intent to use it for software development utilizing emulators and some VM's for my work. I may want to use this as a hackintosh

I chose low profile ram to make sure I get an easy fit with the Noctua cooler. I went with the AMD graphics card for support with a hackintosh computer if the time comes. Let me know what you think!

I think if you're hackintosh user and you choose AMD, you're probably more advanced than most of users here. :) But I heard that now is much simpler to made it run.

Config looks nice.

haha - it's actually gotten a lot easier as of late. who knows i might go all in on linux once i escape macOS

Otherwise it looks verry nice but why only a 500GB SSD? 1TB aint much more expensive. Go with a 660p, loose some perf wich you wont notice and get 1TB for only 20$ more

Took some of @GoldenLags recommendations but idd go for brands you can trust. Thats worth the extra 10$ or so. Especially this Bitfelix PSU cant be beat. However he is verry right about 550W being enough and the XFX 570 being quieter

not sure about that ram, the config i had used low profile ram to make sure it fits with the cooler. wasn't able to find heights for this ram.

Video card is only like $20 more so thats a nice upgrade for a low cost.

Why go down to 550w for PSU? Isn't it ideal to have max wattage be double what my computer will use under load?

Yeh and its a interesting brand :D If you want total peace of mind go with corsair LPX memory. Guaranteed the cooler will fit

Having about 25%-30% headroom should be okay. But yeha if the price difference is okay for you grab a 750W unit. again: peace of mind

thanks for all the advice y'all! i'm not really worried about drive space above 500gb, and I can always add more with the other m.2 slot. I think I will take advantage of the graphics card upgrade though

ok nice! But then please get a 660p 500Gb its also faster at same price. And the PSU is also pretty important to get a decent one

is the power supply in my original post not good?

also it seemed like the 970 evo has better speeds than 660p (the one in my original post)

PSU: It is good but Bitfenix is better, see the PSU list :) I know sounds wired that good old EVGA is worse than BF but yeha..

SSD: Shit, yes I am sorry!! I mixed you up with another guys build. SURE the 970 evo is better. But see if you can get the evo plus. Mostly same price but a bit faster

They have been around for quite some time. Perfectly fine Ram.  It comes from the usual 3 ram manufacturers.

Not really. You will really not exceed 250w much during normal use

They are both garbage buys.

If you are going to get a samsung drive. The only justifyable ones are the PRO drives.

A phison E12 drive like the A80 cost a lot less while delivering more or less the same performance.

Neither of them make PSUs themselves.

And one should not trust any brand with having a "better" or "good" PSU.

The evo drives dont offer a tangable increase in performance or endurance to offset the cost.

Samsung Pro drives make sense due to their endurance and sustained write speeds. their Evo drives dont.

because there is a tangle uplift from the 660p to the Phison E12 drives.

both in endurance and sustained reads/writes. its also only a 10$ cost increase.

youve got the usualy 40GB of SLC cache for both. those decrease with usage.

you then drop to the sustained write speed of the main drive. it being TLC for Phison drives and QLC for 660p.

you have the raw numbers. and then you have the more detailed ones that go for past that and look at random reads and writes.
