Hello,

I just bought a stick of Crucial ballistrix 2400Mhz 2x4GB CL16. I installed them to the PC to my current 2x4 Adata XPG 2400Mhz CL16 rams and it shows them everywhere, but at "This PC" it says 16GB(Usable 7.45GB). So i guess i just paired 2 rams that doesnt work together. Should i just return the last kit i bought or can i fix it somehow?

Thx for the answers.

MOBO: Asus prime b350m-a

Hold on, before you return them, in which order is the ram installed? Are the different sets alternated? as  in do you have 1 Adata then a Ballistix then another Adata then the last Ballistix? Because most of the time this really should not be an issue if the pc boots. But different types of ram Will be much more picky about working in dual channel with a different brand but two sets shouldn't really cause that big a problem these days.

The chips may have been produced by different manufacturers and just refuse to work together

It is certainly possible! But with modern memory controllers this is actually really rare. If your trying to put them in dual channel with the other brands ones though, it's much more likely. It's at least worth hearing if that's what OP is doing.

Crazy question, do you have a CPU with an integrated graphics unit? if it doesn't work, normally the pc either won't boot or not show the ram in bios either. Usually I only see that 'only part of your ram is usable' message when ram is allocated to either an IGPU or you are using a version of windows that doesn't support the amount of ram you have

I dont have CPU with integrated GPU. Here is the screenshot, its in my native language, but i think you can read the important things you need to know from there.

Yeah, it should support like 128 or 192 gigs of ram one or the other of the top of my head? Hence why I asked about the IGPU. Weird Issue, gotta admit I have never seen an incompatible set of ram boot into windows just fine but tell you you can't use half your ram. I guess you could try installing windows 10 on another partition and seeing if you boot into that it gives the same error. If so, best exchange the ram, I don't really have any other ideas at this point.

I guess it just work on my ADATA rams which i have for like a 2years now. And it cant use it with the crucial ones together, so it says there is 16GB, but i can use only those ADATA, so 8GB. I just wanted to upgrade my PC to 16GB rams, but i failed. I guess i have to buy only 2x8 because the ADATAs i have are no longer for sale.

You can check if the maximum memory is selected in the advance boot options.
