I own this laptop: https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ASUS-TUF-Gaming-FX505/overview/

Looking to get a good 1 TB HDD to go in the open slot I have. The HD will be used primarily to play games from. What would be my best option for price and performance? Obviously I want a 7200rpm HDD.

Potentially looking at this HDD, thoughts?: https://www.amazon.com/WD-Blue-1TB-Hard-Drive/dp/B0088PUEPK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=4CT4V6QOX695&keywords=laptop+hdd&qid=1576076332&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A6799355011%2Cp_n_feature_keywords_four_browse-bin%3A8067150011&rnid=2884135011&s=pc&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sprefix=laptop+hd%2Caps%2C183&sr=1-1

No ssd?  Or is there already one in there?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

That's a 3.5 inch drive. I don't think it'll be fitting inside a laptop anytime soon. Not sure if the WD Blues come in a 7200RPM version for 2.5 inch though.

Might I suggest the Black series of WD Drives? --> Link

They tend to be the higher end WD drives.
