Hey guys, so I'm building a new pc. I will use a xeon e3 1230-v3 on an asus h87i-plus motherboard. On asus support page for this mobo, I saw that this processor is compatible but it has to be a new BIOS version. But how do I update the bios in order to fit the processor? It would be easy if the mobo had usb bios flashback, but it doesn't. So... what do I do?

Get a cheap Pentium/Celeron flash it then return it? Not sure really or ask a friend that has a haswell nicely. Generally I've had good luck with motherboards coming with very recent BIOS files.

If you look in the Guides and Tutorials section and look for my guide (Kaveri tutorial)..

Try those steps, they may work for you since you have an Asus motherboard as well

Since this update released on 2013.11.14, it should be updated if this board is a good seller and it sells out all of the old stock. You could ask the retailer to place a haswell cpu in it to see if the bios version is updated or not.
