Hi,

Planning to set my computer up for Alyx on the Valve index but I am struggling to figure out which components I want to use. With the valve being so expensive and this being my first VR set up, I want to take the budget approach for this.

I currently have this CPU and am wondering if it will be sufficient. I know valve recommends Ryzen 5. Do I need to upgrade?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200g

I know this is for minimum specs, what do you recommend?

GPU: RX 580

I am not too worried about the components below as GPU and CPU are the main drivers.

MOBO: Gigabyte AB350M-DS3H

Storage: Samsung Evo SSD 500gb

PSU: EVGA 600W B1

RAM: Crucial ballistix sport LT 2666mhz DDR4 8GBx2

This was the first computer I ever built and am still heavily researching to learn more about computer hardware. I appreciate any recommendations or advice.

Thanks

i would say that VR is more to CPU than GPU. although inr eality both are crucial. but reminding that your 2200G is only 4core and average boost clock. i would highly reccomend using ryzen 5 or equivalent. in my opinion for VR 6 core is necessary
