Hey peeps.

So i've been noticing that since i started to use G-sync with my new monitor that is G-sync ultimate compatible my fps in games like csgo has gone from 280 to 140.

When looking at the usage i have one core at 97-100% usage and my RTX 2080 is only at 40-50% usage.

So i'm thinking about trying to overclock the cpu and if possible just the core that's working.

My cooler is a Cryorig H7 and my case is a NZXT h500

I won't be doing any "Crazy overclocking" just a minor one to bump it up a little.

Any good tips on what to do?

Motherboard: MSI B450m Gaming plus

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x

CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7

GPU: Gigabyte Windforce RTX 2080

RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V 3200

Case Fans: One in the back one in the top

Sorry can't help much with CPU usage issue bug, never heard of this issue before, did you recently have any updates related to CPU/Mobo? Bios etc?  Could you show a example of HWInfo64 of what you mean?

Also unrelated but don't use G-Sync/Freesync if you aren't going to run at below refresh rate of said monitor, its not working if its over the frame rate at all, and or in worst case if its dipping above and below you get huge input latency penalty

it's 240Hz monitor.

i'd like to actually hit the 240 fps.

Ok cool, see if we can try to fix the game issue as its clearly some sort of bug, a overclock might help a bit but will probably still stutter/hitch more frequently then otherwise if its stuck to only one core. Its likely a setting within CSGO itself, or something screwed up with the game install, verify game files if you haven't already.  Likewise is 'Multicore Rendering' Enabled within Video settings? also by any chance did you recently copy over another players config for a different system and might have settings unoptimized for your own?

Appears from what i can read about this, its usually a random bug that pops its head up for some people from time to time, sometimes hard to pin down solution.

If it was working properly there are some cool performance improvements that are 2700x specific like using process lasso to tie CSGO to one CCX that when its working can improve avg FPS (and minimums, which would still help even if locked to lower then max FPS), you can test doing this with Windows Affinity like stated in guide, but not sure if this will help at all if CSGO refuses to use more then one core for whatever reason, i'd be interested if it was still being bothersome if tinkering with this may trick it into working properly, but check game files, make sure multicore rendering is on, and figure if there is any custom config settings that maybe you don't need first.

don't have any stutter/hitch currently for some reason i had when starting the game but it stopped after a short while.

thanks for ending the comment with a *so do this* part, most people forget that and it makes a lot of good tips hard to actually implement
