i am building a gaming pc for the first time and am struggling to find parts that will work with the gpu's i have been given (SLI 780 TI's from a buddies old build) that will also not completely throttle whatever gpu/gpu's i upgrade to (most likely going to be a 2080 or something equivalent to that). i am looking for something that will last about 3 years at least with the 780 ti's and whatever card i upgrade to next without having to be messed with. i don't have a specific set budget however i would like to keep it under $1000, saving $200 out of that for windows and peripherals. i also already have a case and a 3tb hdd (also from my buddies old build) to put it all in. what i would need is:

-256/512 gb NVMe ssd

-power supply, most likely around 700w due to what i am told are 2 very power hungry gpu's

-motherboard that supports sli (obviously), ddr4 ram, and NVMe

-ram

-cpu, 4 cores is fine as all i will be doing is gaming on it although, again, i do want it to be powerful enough to not throttle whatever 20 series card i upgrade to

any suggestions are appreciated.

do you plan to oc?

the sli for gpu's is not really a thing anymore so maybe sell one of them and keep the other, its an option.

700w is way overkill, 550w is plenty, cxm 550w for $65

what all do you plan to do with the rig? like what games at what settings? and the question of do you plan to oc the cpu, and/or ram?

For mobo's MSI X570-a pro has ryzen 3rd gen support, but no wifi on board, cost is $140

another solid board is the asus tuf gaming x570-plus $160, again no wifi, has realtek lan, solid purchase there is one option for wifi, $20 difference.

moving quickly upwards asus rog crosshair 7 hero, so many oc features for price,m great board, post code, bios, $230

asrock x570 taichi $2880, clunky bios, no dual lan $280

most favorite asus rog strix x570-i gaming

no post code, no clear cmos, not for extreme oc, $250

ram, stick to speeds of 3600, get 2x8gb matching set

case is personal preference

i would like to be able to do borderlands 3 at mid to high, 1080p 60fps. i know sli is not super popular anymore, however it seems necessary as from what i have seen a single card is only slightly better than a 970, which my friend im planning on doing co-op in borderlands with is using, and is struggling to get 60 fps at 1080p with all low settings (cpu is a i7 5820k for reference). i am heavily leaning towards ocing the gpu's once they are in, but leaving the cpu alone until later (same with the ram).

just a question, why AMD over Intel? it seems like there is a performance boost, however, the last time i used AMD i had a lot of problems with drivers for the cpu, although this was a few years ago.

AMD got better to the point where they're on par, if not beating intel now.
