Alright, thanks guys.

Im just concerned, because this is my first gaming PC I had that runs games I want over 60FPS , without bad graphics.

I've built one before, but that doesn't run as well as my new one.

Also, one more question - since there are only 2 slots for the RAM, it doesn't have to have the same manufacturer, right? Only the same speed/frequency?

I apologize in advance if my questions are dumb, I don't have significant knowledge about this stuff..

Also, here is the link to the PC https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-pc-intel-core-i5-9400-2tb-hdd-256gb-ssd-8gb-ram-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-english/13546732

Ideally yes, you want to run DIMM's from the same manufacturer with the same frequency and timing. Just pop out your DIMM and Google the model. As long as the frequency and timing match up you're good, matching the manufacturer isn't a must.

I recently purchased a HP Pavillion Gaming PC with an Intel i5-9400 (2.9GHz), 8GB DDR4 RAM, and a GeForce 1660Ti.

I was wondering if it is a good idea, to upgrade the RAM to 16GB. I looked through task manager and found out my current RAM specifications : 1/2 slots used, DIMM form factor, and it has a speed of 2666Mhz.

Whenever I play games, the current RAM is used up to 85-95%.

I read forums about this idea, and some people said that it causes long term memory issues, PC doesn't boot up in the future..etc. That's my only concern - whether it is a good idea or not to do so.

I think the motherboard inside the PC is a 843B.

Wot?

Adding a second dimm is fine

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Just install a DIMM and you're good to go, absolutely no cause for concern.

It will help a lot and I think it's absurd oems ship anything with single channel memory. It's not quite as bad since it's Intel, but still.

i5-14600KF // 120x38MM Cooler Master AIO // B760i // 64GB DDR5 6000 // PNY RTX 5070 // Cooler Master NCORE 100 Max // Cooler Master V SFX-850 Gold // UWQHD AOC Display

Usually yes you have no problems at all mixing brands, though it can happen sometimes.

Thanks for the advice, I just opened the PC up, took a pic of the sticker on the RAM stick, and found an identical one on amazon.

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-PC4-21300-2666MHZ-Desktop-Memory/dp/B07F72RJYN/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=DIMM+8gb+ram+2666mhz&qid=1575221025&sr=8-5

And here is a picture of the RAM on my PC
