Hey Everyone. First post here, and looking for recommendations on a build I'm planning. I'll use the template below to explain usage and such.

1. Budget & Location

Located in Canada, so $CAD. Budget is $2,000 for the build alone, not including monitor, peripherals, storage, or shipping. Budget can extend if required, is not a firm number but a comfortable one.

>> Note: I have a Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" 1TB that I plan on using for storage, and already have a monitor and peripherals.

2. Aim

I run a boutique-style auto detailing business, and next year our focus is growing our video presence online. As such, primary usage will be editing video/graphics with the Adobe Suite of products, including Premier Pro. No RAW footage, primarily shooting 4K footage on Sony A6500 and GoPro HERO 8. Basic color correction, somewhat complex timelines - so having a smooth editing experience is the utmost importance. I also want to be able game on it for the foreseeable future, preferably at 1440p if possible on High/Ultra on current modern titles.

3. Monitors

Single monitor, 4K. Already sourced.

4. Peripherals

Will be running Windows OS (will need a legit copy). Peripherals already have.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I currently have a Dell XPS 9560 (i7, 16GB, 1TB SSD, GTX 1050). It does me fine, but as I primarily edit in 4K it does become sluggish in the timeline more often than I'd like. I also want to be able to have lots of storage available without the need for external drives, so having 2x m.2 drive slots on the motherboard would be nice for future expansion/usage when I eventually upgrade the SSD I would be otherwise utilizing out the gate.

CURRENT LIST OF COMPONENTS

So I've slowly started putting together a rough list of components that I *think* would be good for this application. Here is what I have chosen and why - but I would love feedback, recommendations, and advise where applicable!

MOTHERBOARD:

MSI MPX EDGE WIFI X570 - I saw this on the PC Part Picker site and it looked OK - and the integrated Wi-Fi is something I'd like. Not sure if it's a strong enough contender, but dual channel memory support and multiple m.2 drives is important as well as lots of overhead for future-proofing as much as I can without spending $300+.

CPU:

Ryzen 9 3900X - My decision here is simply core count. I was contemplating the 9900K or 9900KS, but wasn't sure that I would see an advantage in editing. From what I understand, the 9900K would be better for gaming - but from what I've read, it's a quite marginal difference? Again, editing is utmost importance, and either the 3900X or 9900K would be in the budget.

MEMORY:

G.Skill Trident 32GB (16x2), 3600. I've heard that Ryzen loves fast memory, so I figured these would be a good choice. Maybe there's a more economical option that doesn't limit performance?

GPU:

RTX 2070 Super 8GB - Saw on Part Picker that Asus has their iteration for a reasonable cost. I would love something with more CUDA cores like the 1080Ti or 2080Ti, but both are quite expensive and I wasn't sure where I could save money to make up the difference.

COOLING:

Honestly, I'm lost on this one. Thinking something like the Cooler Master ML240L? Would like to ensure I am properly cooling everything.

CASE/OTHERS:

No preference here, just something clean. Saw the Fractural Design Meshify was affordable, so considering that.

Power supply I've looked at the Corsair RMx 650W.

Thanks in advance everyone for your help!

Don't get the 240L, if you're getting a CM I'd recommend a 240R.

At 4k I think you'd be a little hard up with a 2070S, I'd go for a 2080S.

Gaming Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x   |  GPU: Asus ROG STRIX 2080 SUPER Advanced (2115Mhz Core | 9251Mhz Memory) |  Motherboard: Asus X570 TUF GAMING-PLUS  |  RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz 16GB  |  PSU: Corsair RM850x  |  Storage: 1TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, 250GB Samsung 840 Evo, 500GB Samsung 840 Evo  |  Cooler: Corsair H115i Pro XT  |  Case: Lian Li PC-O11

Peripherals:

Monitor: LG 34GK950F  |  Sound: Sennheiser HD 598  |  Mic: Blue Yeti  |  Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum  |  Mouse: Logitech G502

Laptop:

Asus ROG Zephryus G15

Ryzen 7 4800HS, GTX1660Ti, 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz, 512GB nVME, 144hz

NAS:

QNAP TS-451

6TB Ironwolf Pro

I'm not stuck on CM, just what I was looking at originally.

I'm looking at the EVGA 2070 Super for it's apparent better cooling out the gate. 1440p gaming is all I need, 4K editing is what I'm after. Figured my 1050 handles it now, so the 2070 should handle it fine? If I can find money in the budget to upgrade to a 2080S I would for sure!

Ok gotchya. Well I just ordered a ML240R and it looks great, should do the trick fine. I just know the ML240L series is old and doesn't cool well.

In that case if you're just gaming at 1440 a 2070S should do well. How seriously are you into editing? I'm not an expert when it comes to workstations, so I don't know, but I feel you could save a lot of cash if you dropped to a 3700x

I'm sure the 3700X would be fine, but wouldn't the 3900x be a better choice if I'm trying to make a system that won't need upgrades for a few solid years?

I'm not sure if Premier Pro can take advantage of the extra cores or not... But I haven't looked too deeply into the 3700X yet.

Higher core counts and more Ram is important for editing, but for value sake I would perhaps consider dropping the ryzen chip down a tier to a 3700x and picking up a 2080S. It makes timeline scrubbing easier and the gaming performance hit by using ryzen is really not too bad.
