Hey community, I am hoping that all of you great folks out there can help me design the centrepiece of my office.

1. Budget & Location

I am looking to spend somewhere between £600 to £1200 ($775 to $1550) on a new setup. More budget can be added for the monitor.

2. Aim

It's a mixed bag of things I would for the rig to perform reasonably well.

  • I would also like to use the rig for video/image editing. (This takes priority)
  • Ideally be able to handle games like Witcher 3, and up and coming Cyperpunk 2077.

3. Monitors

I am planning to run 2 monitors from the start. I already have one monitor AOC 1920x1020 @ 4ms. Second monitor would need to be purchased but I am looking at 4K HDR I am open for suggestion on size >= 24".

4. Peripherals

I would like to also buy a mechanical keyboard. Not part of the budget, for this build.

5. Why are you upgrading?

  • Currently only have a Dell XPS 13.
  • I gave my rig that I build to my younger brother.

4k display wouldn't go well with the GPU you can get for this budget so i recommend 1440p one. If this is too high, well the only option without sacrificing video editing performance would be to get 1080p display and GTX1660 Super.

Hey Slotter - great question.

Adobe creative suite, which also includes Adobe Premier pro. I must admit that at present I am not doing much on the video/image editing side of things, but would like to use this rig for any freelancers/employees I hire down the line to do product shots. I would however abuse it to train ML models. But I still want to have the ability to game in the short term ?.

Thanks @Juular. What would you say the next best GPU is that would keep the value for money ratio tha the current selection has? RTX 2060/2070 SUPER?

RX5700 XT are already on the level of RTX2060S\2070, if you want smth cheaper then it's GTX1660 Super\Ti but it will struggle with AAA games at 1440p, if you want to go higher then it's RTX2080S.
