Hi All,

At the start of the year I built a new system (i7 9700k + RTX2080Ti). It's hooked up to a single 1440p Ultrawide G-sync monitor (100Hz, 120Hz in overdrive)

At the moment I'm building a triple screen (1440p high refresh rate) racing simulator in the next room over, but don't want to build a second system.

I was thinking I'd set up something similar to Linus's 2015 home upgrade, but since it's now 2019, I'm hitting a few snags.

The idea is to put the desktop with the simulator, since there's no way I can run triple 1440p's over Thunderbolt, and then run my 1440p Ultrawide over thunderbolt, as well as all the other peripherals (keyboard, mouse, controller, headset)

  • Thunderbolt 3 optical cables are not available yet. (I know there were some tech demos in September, but haven't seen any cables hit the market yet)
  • Thunderbolt 2 docking stations and PCIE cards are hard/impossible to find now

Additionally, the RTX2080Ti that I'm using has 1 HDMI port, 3 DP ports and a USB type C port.

Can I use the USB type C port with something like the Startech USB C to MiniDP to run video to the PCIE card? Will that support G-sync? (I'm asking this so I won't have to keep switching cables whenever I want to switch between the racing sim and my gaming desk in other room)

Does anyone have any ideas how to achieve something like this with currently available hardware?
