With the specs of some current and upcoming games i feel like the 3GB on the GPU is holding me back, but not sure if to go down that route first or upgrade my CPU. Any opinions will be fantastic! budget of £500/550 ($650/700) for the pair.

CPU: i5-6600k

GPU: GTX1060 Dual 3GB

RAM: 16gb DDR4 @ 2133

Mobo: Asus Z170-A

Games I'm currently playing.

LOL

Starwars BF2 + Fallen Order

RDR2

Little video editing at 4k/2k

Thanks in advance

Well that will support up to an i7-7700k which is 4c/8t.

Your challenge as of late here is the rise of Ryzen processors, which, by all accounts I've seen, thoroughly trounce what Intel has to offer (and I say this as a Xeon fan), so what you should be asking yourself is this:

Do I keep my card and upgrade the cpu/mobo, or just the card? Both would offer improved performance, but I don't think you could do all three for your budget range.

id get like rx5700/ 5700 XT. 2060S or 1660 super for now and worry about the cpu later.

For cpu you should get either used 7700k (good processor, but only 4 cores is not that good) or upgrade mobo and cpu to ryzen.

3600x has better stock cooler and 5% better perfomance, and its now only 5bucks more than r5 3600.

That motherboard has already bios for third gen ryzen updated, so your wont need to update it by yourself.

That ram is fancy and can go even as low as 3600mhz cl15
