Hello Guys, JonnyKennedy (Netherlands) here.

My PC is now 5 years old and I see in some games I need to play at medium or low at 1080p

I have a 1080P 75hz monitor, so 4K or 1440p is for me now not important, I'll buy a 1440p or 4k monitor by a new build.

My PC specs:

CPU: i5 6400

RAM: 8Gb 2133mhz

SSD: 250GB

HDD: 2TB

GPU: GTX 960 ASUS STRIX 2GB

PSU: Sharkoon WPM500 (500 Watt) bronze

What i consider is upgrade the RAM to 16 GB.

Only my model RAM is out of stock (forever), so can I put another 2133mhz memory or even 2400mhz (downclocked to 2133mhz)?

Also with the gpu. I want a notable upgrade (like dubble FPS) of the GPU.

The games what I played is:

  • Battlefield 5 (free weekend and test trail, so not importend)
  • Battlefield 1
  • Battlefield 4, 3 and Hardline
  • Need For Speed Heat,
  • F1 2019
  • Borderlands 2 & Prequel (and than maybe the 3th game).
  • Grand Theft Auto 5
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • CS:GO
  • Rainbow Six Siege.

GPU in consider what is not a bottleneck for my current PC:

RX 580 ASUS ROG Strix 8 GB €150 with cashback sold out

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6GB €255

If you have another good card without (or little) bottlenecking my PC. Please tell!

I'll buy at Dutch shops or Amazon Germany/Deutschland and I use Euro's

Please help me!

The RX 580 is such good value, and as an upgrade over the 960 it will be a pretty great performance uplift. While the 1660 super is better, it's not 100 euros better that's for sure.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Thanks for your opinion

that rx580 is indeed a nice deal especially with those free games. dont worry that much about bottlenecking with that cpu and a mid range gpu like the rx580

I am still checking that some games benefit more fps than the other.

I don't like spend €150 for the most game only adding more 20fps to a game.

Or just check for a new PC like this:

Edit: RX 580 for €150 is sold out :(
