Front Audio issues

Go to solution Solved by scaryjam823,

Try going to the realtek hd audio manager and make sure the tasking is set to headphones on your front panel jack, right click the jack in the program when headphones are plugged in. If that doesn't work right click the speaker option in the taskbar, go to playback devices and make sure the jack and headphones are enabled there.

Hi all, I built a computer a little over a year ago for light gaming and just general word processing etc. And It was foolish of me to not check at the time but just now (a little over a year later) I noticed my front audio didn't work. My audio driver doesn't even detect anything being plugged in. I'm using a Gigabyte z77-x-3dh mobo and the hd audio header. What did I do wrong? P.S I never noticed because I used a Headset that used a USB virtual surround sound adapter and I just always had it plugged into that.

Have you updated your drivers? I have found that often the auto detection for front panels doesn't work. Just set it so that they are always connected and you shouldn't have a problem. Since you mentioned that it is a HD audio header, is your driver settings set to the HD output?

Thanks! I had to work out the equivalent to what you were talking about in VIA HD Audio Deck. But basically it worked! :)  Thanks all who tried to help me! Much appreciated.

You're welcome, I had some trouble setting up surround sound on my computer. And through the trouble shooting with that I learned those tips. Glad I could help. :)
