I was actually shopping for a 5700xt over a 2070 super and was wondering if people were still having driver issues with them...

Just get a $350 RX 5700 and overclock it to have 95% of the XT's performance. Or flash it if dual bios, haven't had any issues with my flashed 5700.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Bringing my Power color 5700xt back. I'm now fully wiped windows newest bios/rolling back etc etc.  Constantly have display issues playing games and even when I'm not around I have tons on windows errors for display issues. Was pretty disappointed in this because I wanted to love the card.

That's kind of the vibe I am getting for the AMD cards. I was totally sold on them at first, but definitely some mixed bag opinions. Some people are having no issues, some are having difficulties that they can work through, and others are just swamped with issues.

Red Devil and similar cards are going for around $420 right now, and I've seen some sales for 2070 supers for ~$500, and as those prices get closer, it's getting harder to want to take a chance with AMD. Not totally ditching the 5700 and 5700xt quite yet, but the more people I am reading that have issues still with drivers is making that extra money  I could save not worth the hassle. I guess we will see, still another week until black Friday.

Some threads I read the people are hopeful Adrenaline 2020 update will work and fix. But I'm in my return window and can't take a chance.

If I do end up buying a 5700xt, I'll probably get one on Amazon since i know they have a pretty lenient return policy in case I do change my mind down the road.

Recently happened to me. Would go to 1920x1080 resolution (was stuck to 1680x1050p).

Steps that I did

1. DDU'd the latest driver

2. Reverted back to old driver (2 steps down the latest one)

3. Used HDMI as opposed to DP. Was able to go to 1920x1080

4. Updated drivers again

5. Used Display port again. Retained 1920x1080p resolution

GPU Used : Sapphire Nitro + RX 5700XT

Monitor : AOC G2790PX

Might work for you. Give it a try.
