GPU upgrade vs resolution downgrade

Aereldor

I'm using my Alienware 13R3 with a 13" 1440p OLED display and a GTX 1060 6GB. I've been thinking - since I don't have the money or the space to upgrade my GPU (requires alienware graphics amplifier), should I get a monitor downgrade?

I was debating getting a 1080p or even a 900p IPS monitor, 19-20", so I could run my games at max settings and a locked 60fps. I can think of plenty of pros, but are there any cons?

You can see the difference between 1080p and 900p, you can't see the difference between high and max.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

So ignoring everything about not seeing any difference, why not just run the game at 1080p?  That's how I get my 870m alienware13r1 to play modern titles, 720p everything lol.  No need to pay for a new display at all

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

This

at 13" would using 1080p over 1440p be that bad?
I understand 1080p vs 1440p scaling and interpolated blur can happen.... but if its just for games performances,.. why not give it a try and see if its clean or blurry.

Using derivatives of 1440p and creating a custom resolution for better image scaling without blur could be needed.

2048x1152 (80% of 1440p)

1920x1080 (75% of 1440p)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
