Daisy Chain DP out to TV using DP to HDMI adapter

jaggerauth

Hi,

I'm trying to daisychain from my Dell's DP out to my TV's HDMI port however,
it doesn't seem to work.

My computer only has one output port (DP) which is connected to my Dell monitor.
I tried to daisy chain to my TV's HDMI input using a DP-to-HDMI adapter but it doesn't work.
I'm not sure if it has to do with the length of my HDMI cable, because it's a 10meter one.
Is there a limitation to the length of cable for daisy chaining DP?

I'm using the onboard display. I'm not sure if it could another reason.

BTW, the DP-HDMI adapter and HDMI cable is working fine as the TV is working if I connect it directly to the computer.

Thanks!

Most likely you need an 'active' adapter wich are usualy 5 times as expencive.
Something LIKE this https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Supporting-Technology/dp/B00EDT0072

Or maybe your graphics card doesnt support mulitple displays on one DP connection.
No specs no idea...

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

You're probably right about my card not supporting the multiple display. I'm just testing this out so I think I should get myself a good GPU for this purpose. Thank you!

Really depends on what the daisy chain output supports. Some of them support any kind of adapter, some of them only support active adapters, some of them don't support any adapters. It's difficult to find any documentation on this though.
