Recommendation on current gaming rig.

Illest

Built this rig way back in 2012, Was wondering which route to take, completely upgrade the main components(CPU,Mobo,Ram and GPU) or upgrade the ram to 16GB along with a new GPU?

Current Specs:

ASUS P8Z77-V
Intel Core i5-3570K with Coolermaster hyper evo 212
Patriot Viper Xtreme Series, Division Viper 2 Edition DDR3 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-12800
HyperX Genesis 4GB DDR3-1600MHz(2 x 2GB) w/ Intel XMP
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC 2GB
Corsair HX650
500GB Samsung 850 EVO
2TB Seagate HHD
Coolmaster Storm Sniper Black Edition Case

A 3770k and a 1080ti/5700XT class GPU would bring your system back to "AAA" status.

If not that, then you are looking at either a z390 9700k/9900k or an B450 or X570 with a 3700 or better with the same GPUs as an upgrade to what you have now.

Do you have a budget?

As @Jack Dvoraksaid a new GPU would be helpful. You could upgrade to 16GB's of RAM pretty cheap with a nice bump in performance. 4 gigs just isn't enough anymore, it hasn't been for some time now.

You can get quite a lot more performance out of that system with a better GPU alone, but upgrading everything (and to a higher degree than I'd recommend if you only do the GPU) would help even more of course.  Whether that's worth the much higher cost depends on what experience you want and what you play.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I'm mostly using it for playing games on high-medium settings at 1080p. Current monitor is a BenQ RL2455, could upgrade that monitor at some point to maybe 1440p.

My first choice was to up the ram along with a new gpu, would you guys recommend those rtx cards or would those just not work well with the current specs I have and just stick to the gtx series.

Was thinking about switching over to ryzen maybe like a 3600, 16 gigs ram, b450 tomahawk max, 2060 super or a 5700/5700 XT, but since you guys are saying my cpu is still relevant near the end of 2019 might just keep it and hold off a bit longer.

I currently have 8 gigs @Ehmc130

I see that now, you're running two different kits which threw me off. It's not generally recommended to mix and match RAM.
