Does formatting a drive remove bitlocker?

So I have an SSD that is bitlocker encrypted and I don't have the encryption key or password. Will a format to the drive remove the bitlocker encryption and allow me to access the drive again?

Yes, but also the data on the drive if im not mistaken.

As the others have noted, you can absolutely format the drive to re-use it for storage or install an OS on it, however, all existing data will be lost.
