SOLVED CPU temperature behaving really strange

Hi everyone,

MOBO: Gaming Plus B450

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x

CPU Cooler: Hyper 212

GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 6GB

Case: Cooles Master MasterBox Lite 5 (3 intake 1 exhuast)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8 @3000Mhz

SSD1 (OS): Samsung EVO 500GB

SSD2: Kingstone SSDnow 120GB

HDD1: WD 3TB green

Recently I noticed that my CPU idle temp was stuck at 53C. Long story short: when I open task manager (still idle), the idle temp starts oscillating between 39C-45C. When I close it back up, temps go back to a steady 53C. I have never seen something like this.

Here is a picture of what is happening, the 53C plateau (yellow circle) is when the PC is a complete idle, and the ups and downs (red circle) correspond to when I just open the task manager and leave it idle.

Anyone knows what is going on?

Thanks!

try reset the bios

is ryzen master installed? if it is, make sure its up to date. if not, you do not need to install it.

Yes windows is up to date and I uninstalled ryzen master. Still the same issue.

By reseting the bios you mean factory reset?

I would actually suggest to check the temps in Ryzen Master instead of Afterburner and see if the measurements also behave strangely there. It could simply be a RivaTuner issue (the sensor reading software used by Afterburner to get its readings).

I reinstalled Ryzen Master and checked. Yes, still the same problem. This is so strange, I am watching the constant 53C, I click CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and as soon the task manager opens temperature starts droping until 40C, then starts oscillating untill I close task manager again, then boom, 53C steady.

Probably just a fucked up fan curve.
Opening task manager increases load , fan speed increases , temps lower.

Checked the BIOS, image bellow. I see the logic in what you say. But how can I fix this? I´m not too experienced on this matter and I don´t see what to change on this fan curve.

Ok I have an update.

I just launched R6 Siege and I find myself at a steady 65C ingame. But yet again, I open task manager, leave it there and continue playing. Guess what, 60C steady ingame. How can task manager runing lower my temps con 5C? I´m losing my head. ?

Maybe check taskmanager what uses your cpu and how much. Antivirus , malwarebyte check for any bad programs.

System 0.8% - 1.6%

Antimalware Service Executable 0.8%

Desktop Window Manager 0.5%

None causing any trouble I think. Will check malwarebytes.

SOLVED! Using Malwarebytes I eliminated 2 BitCoin miners, or so it said, and apparently the problem is solved.

I´m no expert but I´m guessing the miners were smart enough to close themselves when task manager is opened so they could somewhat hide.

Thanks everyone for all the help!
