Streaming Audio Mixer Setup

Skipple

Hi guys,

I have a quick question regarding the optimal setup for audio for streaming.

I use 2 PCs. One for gaming and one that handles the streaming. Audio Mixer is a Behringer Xenyx 1202

Now, this may seem a bit odd but I will explain.

I originally started with using the Main Out going to the streaming PC. I needed to change this due to the fact that sometimes I need to mute main audio out on one channel but still hear that channel in my headphones.

Using the FX Send and FX controls on I can mute the audio out and still hear the channel when needed.

This mixer doesn't have an ability to mute to main mix button but still hear it in the control room/phones.

Problems with this:

  • The FX Send bus is mono only, so I would have to stream with mono audio.
  • Along with that the levels are slightly different from the phones and FX Send. (FX Send is slightly louder than main mix for some reason)

I was wondering if anyone had a further suggestion if this can be improved as is or with a different mixer.

If you are interested this was my original setup:

Spoiler

I used this until I realized I couldn't mute one audio out without muting my headphones as well:
