I know nothing about computers

Legobubba

i really have no idea where to begin. i've watched a lot of videos and i cant comprehend all the numbers and letters or where to start. i want to build a new pc preferably with rgbs. i want to use it for gaming and streaming with 2 monitors (one for chat and setups and one for playing on screen) the only thing i know i want are trident z royal and a case with tempered glass. i dont really have a budget but probably around $1000 or less i could probably stretch to $1500. but i just need help on what i should do.

Just watch enough videos until you understand what the parts are and what you need. It should only really take a day of solid research and you'll be much better off for it. I recommend going through some old LTT build videos, as well as ones from Jayz2cents and GamersNexus. They're all filled with great information.

I'll give explanations on each of the part choices here, LMK if you need explanations on what each part does

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 - Basically, there are 2 brands for desktop CPU. AMD and Intel. Right now, AMD offers superior value, despite Intel being slightly ahead in gaming performance. AMD often offers higher core counts, but lacks in clock speed(this is why some games run better on Intel). The few percent increase with an Intel CPU is often not worth it.

Motherboard - MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX - When looking at a motherboard, you look at size, chipset and model. For size, there is often only 3 options(ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX). ATX is standard, Micro-ATX is a cut-down version of ATX, and micro-ATX is tiny, for small form factor builds. There are other sizes but they are uncommon. For chipset, The B450 chipset is AMD's 'budget' option right now(aside from A320, which is horrendous with power delivery). The TOMAHAWK line of motherboards are known to be great quality, and 'MAX' just means it has the BIOS updated to support the CPU

Memory - G.Skill TridentZ RGB 2x8GB 3600MHz - I would not recommend the Royal version of this, it's insanely overpriced, and does not fit your budget at all. When choosing memory, you look at 3 things(besides aesthetics). Speed, capacity and number of sticks. Ryzen loves fast memory, so memory between 3200MHz and 3600MHz should give you a significant speed boost in games without having to spend a lot extra. As for capacity, 16GB is often recommended, 8 is a little under what you'll typically use for gaming, unless you have a very low-end computer. 32GB is overkill. As for number of sticks, always go for 2 sticks or more. Intel and AMD's desktop CPUs are dual channel. This means there are two 'highways' for data to be transferred between the CPU and RAM/Memory. Going for 2 sticks means you take advantage of both channels and increase memory bandwidth, increasing CPU performance

Storage - Intel 660p Solid State Drive - This is an SSD, which has significantly faster speeds than other forms of storage. When you install games and Windows on this, everything just runs much smoother, because of the faster speeds. Only downside is that it is more expensive per GB, so you should only store the games you play and your Windows 10 installation on it.

Storage - Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive - This is a HDD, which is much slower than the previously mentioned SSD. But, it is very cheap per GB, so it is recommended to get a large one and store pretty much everything you have besides games and Windows on it. Pictures, music, programs etc.

Video Card - RX 5700XT - This card was mostly chosen based on budget, it is the best performing one that fits the budget. The Gigabyte GAMING OC variant is usually very cheap and performs decently

Case - Fractal Design Meshify C - This case has tempered glass, and is known for superb airflow due to the mesh front panel.

Power Supply - Corsair CX 550M - Now here's the hard choice. Power supplies are hard to choose because you can have an 80+ Bronze one be higher quality than an 80+ Gold one. For power supply choice, I'd suggest the PSU Tier List to determine quality. CX550M is very popular because it is cheap and of decently high quality.

Monitor - MSI Optix MAG241C - This monitor is very good value, as it is 1920x1080 resolution(standard Full HD resolution), and has a refresh rate of 144Hz. The refresh rate refers to how many 'pictures' you see per second. Higher refresh rate, means smoother video. Anything from playing games to just browsing the internet will feel much smoother.

Monitor - Acer R221Q - This monitor doesn't have anything special. Cheapest 1080p monitor, as you're going to use it for chat and whatnot.

very comprehensive. nice.

but, Intel 660? ok if you wan't to cheap out.

Also seagate 3tb unit have a very bad reputation. Always go for Toshiba or Hitachi for durability.
