Well, I can't bloody believe it. I've managed to put my new build (see specs in signature) together, and when I turned it on, it worked!! Seriously, the feeling is amazing!! It did take a good few hours, I have to say, and some last minute google questions, but it worked! I half expected it to blow up when I plugged it in.

I need to do some cable management now, before I close it up, and there's some updating of the drivers I apparently should do too. I've been advised not to use the CD ROMS, but the websites instead, although I went to Gigabytes site to update the drivers and apparently their download app doesn't work properly with Windows so I guess I need to either install each driver one by one (a pain in the ass) or just use the CD ROM? What you think? It's a bit confusing too, because MSI is offering me AMD chipset updates too, and not just GPU updates. I guess I just need to take my time. Still, if you have any advice on how to go through driver updating that would be good.

At least Windows updated itself without a hitch.

Tomorrow, it's install all the apps I want, and maybe get some games downloaded too.

Seriously, to anyone out there hesitant about building, take it from me, with a little research and some patience, and a little bit of courage hitting the power button for the first time, anyone can do it! The feeling of achievement at the end of the process is worth just as much as having a PC at the end of it too! :-)

And thank you everyone on these boards to the constant support and answers to my questions. Couldn't have done it without you all!!

For the drivers, try updating them from device manager first. You could use the CDs, but they're almost certainly outdated. If you find the device that needs the driver, Google it and you should be able to find it.

EDIT: Also, well done. Now you'll get stuck in the loop of constantly wanting to upgrade your build. That's a very nice build, especially for first time.

CD ROMS are fine to use assuming you have an optical drive and you remember to update the drivers later yourself. Congrats too by the way!

Thanks, Dude. I'm still in disbelief that I've put together a whole rig by myself. So pumped to get it up to speed and get some games on it. Thanks for you help along the way.
