Pc Stuttering and memory issue

Hello

 

I am having a weird issue with my pc that honestly i'm not sure how to describe. I will try my best.  

 

Sometimes I notice my applications (f.e. chrome or even the os itself lagging a little.

                   Example: I press to open the file explorer and it takes 4-5 seconds to open, or chrome laggs or stutters.)

Now if i had an older workstation or something I could understand such behaviour but often its doing nothing else really and only mundane tasks. + with the specs that I listed below i dont expect to run into issues. 

So I checked task manager a couple of times and sometimes this comes up(link below): now if you look it says its almost at 80% (also jumping to 90 and 95% sometimes.

I sorted by memory usage to make sure I wasnt missing but even if you count all of that together its barely 4 Gigs. so how can it be at 80% of 32 gigs and stutter etc)

 

I'm sorry if I explained this rather poorly but its a weird issue and I really dont know what to do.

Any help would be much apprechiated

 

PC specs:

- i7 8700K (not overclocked)

- (32 GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX (4x, 8GB, DDR4-2666, DIMM 288)

- MSI GeForce GTX 1080Ti Gaming x Trio (11GB, High End)

- ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F (LGA 1151, intel z370, atx)

- windows 10

I'd imagine it is something running in the background.  Have you tried closing them one at a time to see if the behavior persists?

yes but that must show on the task manager no?  if you look at the screenshot at the bottom it shows that the ram usage is neglegent for a pc that has 32 gigs. or am i wrong?

I don't think it has anything to do with RAM capacity just something a background program is doing.  

 

Did you adjust your pagefile at all?

Sorry. I dont really understand what you're trying to say.

 

What i meant was, if some application was using around 25-27 GB of ram in the background, wouldnt that also show up on the task manager?

Oh, I see now.  How much RAM does Windows say is installed?

32 GB. Tats the amount i put in the motherboard and thats the same amount that windows recognizes
