Hi all,

I'm looking for some recommendations on hardware for running multiple VM's.  I currently have a desktop and a few laptops, some running 2 VM's, most of the VM's are Windows server 2016.  What I'd like to do is consolidate some of these into single physical boxes.  Ideally I would want something that could run 3 or 4 VM's at a time.

Currently running:

VM1 - Windows 2016 DHCP server

VM2 - Windows 2016 DHCP server

VM3 - Windows 2016 PRTG Network Monitor

VM4 - Windows Pro XMPP server

I'm going to be looking to add between 2-4 more virtual machines.  Of course I don't want a single point of failure for what is already existing, so I may end up buying two hosts.  Split the DHCP servers, one on each host, etc.

A friend of mine recommended  Supermicro Superserver E300-9D-8CN8TP but that's $1500 and I feel like I could pull this off for less?  I'd like to keep it under a grand, ideally, per build.

Thanks in advance for any advice
