Apparently (if I've heard correctly) if you are running your AIO on max fan speed 24/7 your PC'll fail to boot after shutting down... I wish I knew that earlier... I've watched videos of how to fix my kind of problem BUT mine is a little different. The videos suggest going to the BIOS and fixing things, but my PC isn't making it to the BIOS and keeps shutting off after barely posting the error (CPU Fan Error). I tried clearing the RTC RAM, checking connections, and even mashing F2 trying to get to BIOS before it shuts off. I got to BIOS ONCE and then it shut off again after flashing the BIOS screen for a second.

What should I do now?

What is connected to the CPU_Fan header?

AIO pump? Fan for the AIO?

The CPU Fan Error can pop up through a couple different scenarios, but the most common:

  1. Pump / CPU fan is not connected / disconnected from the header
  2. Pump / CPU fan is faulty, and it not spinning, so it comes up as 0 RPM
  3. Fan header could be faulty, even though pump / CPU fan is spinning, it is not being properly detected

not sure, this is the only pic I have on my phone rn I'm at work, does it help? (I took the GPU out to get a better look yesterday)

What motherboard do you have? Normally the board does not shutdown just because of the CPU fan warning, unless it has been set to do so.

I your AIO's pump is faulty, the CPU may overheat and cause the system to shutdown. Have you tried using another cooler to narrow down the problem?

Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0, and I don't have a second cooler to test atm.

Can you hear if the pump is running? Can you test the pump using the external power supply?

^ This.

Though, the shutdown with no CPU fan detected is enabled by default I believe...

OP responded with a picture, ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

Just checking the motherboard manual online...the CPU fan speed low limit, by default is 600 RPM.

If your fan / pump goes below 600 RPM, it will trigger the warning.

Page 3-29 BTW.

@KnowledgeByTech your picture is too grainy, you'll need to retake it when you get home or something.

I can't see if the AIO pump is connected to the CPU_fan header or not.

Is that a brand-new Corsair H100i (?) or have you had it for sometime now?

Will retake the pics as soon as I get home, and yes I have been running the same AIO for a few years now (is old and also since discontinued model).

Im pretty sure that I can hear the pump, but I'm not entirely sure that it's the pump itself that I'm hearing. And thats what I'm dealing with. It turns off by itself before I can do anything.
