GPU video editing

So I currently have a i7 8700k GTX 1070Ti and 32GB RAM. I use hitfilm as my video editor and I really like the UI. Hitfilm does not look like it is well optimized for my GPU and now it is struggling in playback. I don’t know what to do. Should I go to a new video editor?

Yes...

You can get Magix Movie Studio 15/16/17 really cheap at retail

Magix Vegas Pro goes on the humble bundle store often for $25

You can try resolve otherwise it's free, and it's been improved a lot as far as video editing software goes.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I would take @Streetguru's advice.

A GTX 1070ti is quite supported on all capable video editing programs.

Your system is fine, the software you are using needs to change.
