My Pixel 4 arrived in a cereal box

It seems that I am one of the lucky 2,000 UK customers.

From what I've read, this is a limited edition cereal box. I was very impressed when I saw it (it's quite charming).

 

I'm currently sourcing a box protector so I can keep it in good condition as I've seen cereal boxes rot over time. I'm not going to eat the cereal inside, either. Unfortunately I did damage the box very slightly when opening it (I didn't realise it was a limited edition, I was more surprised that reviewers never mentioned the box - but didn't think anything of it).

I'd be surprised if it gets more than $10 in 5 years. I do not expect the Pixel 4 to be a collectable item or something that is viewed as beloved in the industry, but it's still something I'd like to preserve and keep around.

 

Imagine if in 20 years there's a YouTube channel dedicated to eating weird cereals, documenting the experience and describing it for their audience - I think this kind of novelty would appeal for that type of curiosity.

 

I'd like to preserve the experience as best as possible - just in case. Plus I'd rather not have a rotting cereal box in my weird box collection, so going to keep it protected, it at least feels worth while doing that.

I have to be honest here, out of all the things people store I dont think that cereal is anything special or even worth storing. Heck, if you kept your Pixel 4 brand new in its box for 20 years, you would have a lot more valuable thing to demonstrate to masses.

As are people who source rare and old classic cereals just to eat and review them (things like retro 80s Nintendo cereals).

 

I'm not going to pretend that this is what I have in mind, but I felt like it's worthy of preservation and it's something I feel like it would be a little sad if I just ate the cereal and threw out the box.

 

EDIT: Just been told that one of these has sold for $380 so definitely worth keeping

I didn't hear about this promotion.  Pretty neat marketing.  I do agree that it won't be more valuable than it is now though.
