Hello, I just put together a new build which at first seemed to work fine until I had random BSOD with CRITICAL PROCESS DIED messages that would not reset.

Specs:

  • OS - Windows 10 64-bit OEM
  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 3900x, with AMD Wraith Prism Cooler
  • MotherBoard - Gigabyte x570 AORUS Ultra
  • DRAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x16 3200MHz, CMK32GX4M2B3200C16
  • Power Supply - Corsair RM 650
  • GPU - EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3
  • Storage - Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 1TB (OS drive)
  • Secondary Storage - Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SSD
  • Tertiary Storage - Western Digital HDD 1TB

I ran memtest86 with the following report:

I figured I would RMA the RAM kit so requested that and in the meantime I stopped by Best Buy and picked up a pair of Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 (CMW32GX4M2C3200C16) to see if it was an issue with my motherboard. Now the damn thing won't boot Windows and just BSOD after BIOS.  I ran memtest again with immediate 100's of errors on Test 1-3 at I stopped it early. I've tried shifting the RAM kits separately on different DIMM slots which has not made any difference. I've tried turning XMP settings on and off with no difference. Some Google searches/forums mention Ryzen and Corsair compatibility issues and others point at Gigabyte and Corsair compatibility..

Do I purchase new RAM (GSkill, Patriot, etc)? Or do I purchase a new motherboard?

I did update the BIOS... but I'll get on the chipset driver right now. Thank you. I can only hope that was the issue.

I updated the Chipset Driver and now running Windows Memory Diagnostics - "Hardware problems were detected." Not complete yet though..
