Assassin's Creed Origins stuck at loading screen

Trinopoty

I'm trying to run Assassin's Creed Origins and it keeps getting stuck at 'Checking for new content'.

Has anyone experienced it and been able to solve it?

Or should I just give up and go with a cracked copy?

How long have you waited?

Have you tried verifying the game files?

Asking about pirating content is not allowed here.

I've waited various lengths of time from 5 minutes all the way to 20 minutes.

Verifying game files did not help. Deleting the game's folder in 'Documents' didn't help. Running it with administrator rights didn't help.

Also, if the thing I paid for doesn't run and the company I paid to doesn't want to support it, maybe we should look more at cracks because they actually tend to run. Also, it's not pirating if I paid for it.

I was able to get it running.

Apparently, ACO doesn't like being in a non-default location. I moved the game to the C drive and it fired up just fine.

Terrible engineering if you ask me.
